As usual, my Summer Evening Skincare Routine, is focused on anti-aging and repair. Honestly, this has to be my favourite and most effective routine yet. This particular grouping of products has really worked so well for my skin and the results show, so I’m excited to share with you the products I’m using, enjoying and how/when I use them in my routine!
This is not a tutorial. My personal routine suits my particular skin needs and tastes, so everything I’ve chosen here is purely for my own preference. While this routine, in this order works superbly for my skin, not everyone will necessarily benefit the same way or does everyone need to have these particular products.
As with all my skincare routines, my approach is not a legalistic one. I don’t necessarily follow the instructions that are provided by the brand unless they are actives. I prefer to listen to my skin and do what makes sense to me. I only have 2 rules for layering:
1. Start with the thinnest consistencies to the more viscous ones.
2. Liquid, water-based products before oil-based, creamy ones.
There are also certain actives or ingredients I like to use on my skin right after cleansing before toning. You’ve seen me use my Vitamin C serum before toner in the morning and in this routine, I use the Copper treatment right after cleansing as well. I find those products work much better that way!

Hi Renée! Thanks again for the informative video ♪
I have a slightly delayed question: how do copper peptides and vitamin C mix or not mix in a routine? I’ve come across information that says never to mix them cos the vitamin C will lose its effectiveness, but I’m not a chemist and don’t really understand the process. I saw that you noted to wait at least 20 seconds between CAIS and the ELAN, does the form of vitamin C used matter in whether these ingredients interact in a negative way? Or is it fine as long as there’s some kind of wait time within the same routine? (Forms of vitamin C is also a can of worms for me… I know L-AA is the gold standard, but MAP, SAP, AAP. SO MANY, HALP!!)

Hey Mimi! I hear you with all the vitamin C’s! Don’t worry, I will be doing a video explaining about all that soon enough! Copper peptides and vitamin C can be used in the same routine, just make sure that the copper treatment is properly absorbed and dry before layering the L-AA. It’s mainly L-AA that’s the concern with copper. I actually will layer any extra liquid treatments between the 2 to further separate the layers but should be fine. I can tell you for certain, both CAIS and ELAN are really working for me even in the same routine!
Thanks so much Renée!! It’s a relief to know there are ways for these two great ingredients to happily coexist! I’m finishing my current bottle of C Firma (looks like I’ve got about a week or so) and will take this opportunity to re-evaluate and hopefully incorporate copper into the mix.
I will eagerly await your vitamin C video (WOOHOO!!), as I eagerly await all your videos! 😉🍊✨✨
Hi Renee,
Did I hear you correctly in this video saying that Botanic Farms sherbet has mineral oil? I thought for sure they said they don’t put mineral oil in their product. I really love that stuff, I hope they haven’t broken a promise. My daughter uses Heimish and I’m assuming that is minera oil free?
Thank you for all of your very informative videos 🙂

Hi Robin,
Don’t worry, I was referring to Banila Co. which has mineral oils. This is most similar to the Botanic Farm formula. Heimish definitely doesn’t have mineral oils, it is the best.
Hi Renée!
Please forgive me if you have already addressed this, but is there any wait time between products in this routine? Does the same rule apply as your previous morning routine with a five minute wait time after applying vitamin c? How about with the CAIS or Retinol? Thank you, thank you in advance. And as always, thank you for the reviews and insight. My skin has never been better..because of you!

Hey Katie! I don’t have wait times between products in this routine. I basically pat everything in until I think it’s dry and absorbed before moving on to next layer. The CAIS and ELAN need at least 20 secs between the layers which is fine because I put a layer of toner in between. The reason I don’t really have much of a wait time after the vitamin C is because it’s in a different base from liquid and seems to absorb and dry immediately. The retinol is an oil so it won’t really dry down. Hope that helps! At the end of the day, do what you believe makes the products work more effectively! Hope this helps!
Yes, very helpful. Thank you so, so much! I just adore you and your videos/posts. xo

Am I putting these in the right order?? Please Help! Love your Youtube channel and amazing advice. My skin has had a huge change since watching you. I was even complimented on it last week at dinner. Thank you so much. Love every video and can’t wait for more.
Dear Renee, I’m a huge fan, been watching your videos over and over, so much to learn and to try out!
Anyway, I posted this question on your YouTube channel as well, so wherever you see it first, lol 😊
Could you please say what is your stand on the wait time after applying vit C serums? Most sources agree that we should allow 15 – 30 mins after applying it, but I noticed that you don’t. Why?
Thanks!
Dear Rene,
What are your thoughts on products with Dimethicone and other silicones? Almost every brand including my favorite Sulwhasoo makes their products with these, Sigh. What’s a good eye cream, serum and night serum, essence without silicone? Can you please do a routine without silicone? Also, what are your thoughts on Vintner’s Daughter serum?
Many many thanks!
Charini
P.S. Amazing videos!
Hi Renee, I’m so glad that I finally found your channel! I wondered if you could please list the order of the products used in your am and pm skincare routine. Even something printable would be great to use for future reference. That would also help me to keep a wish list of products that you have mentioned. Thank you so much! 💕
Hi Renee!
I’ve been following your blog for awhile now and I’m so glad I found you on youtube along with other k-beauty bloggers!
I just recently got into Korean skincare and so far my skin is loving it <3 I have an oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin so I have a lot of areas I want to target (e.g. acne, scars, large pores, pigmentation and uneven skin tone). I live in the Philippines so weather is pretty much the same all throughout the year.
My main concern is when is the ideal time to change up my routine? I have been doing the same routine for about 2 months now and since my acne has subsided and I only get hormonal acne, I want to focus on my pores as well. Do I incorporate or change up a few of the products or completely change the whole routine? I would like to try other products to see if they have a better effect on my skin but I am afraid to try or change my routine in case it gets worse.
Thank you so much!! <3
Hi Renee,
I have just gotten into skincare, and absolutely love your blog and channel.
I am just beginning to embark on my skin journey, because I have melasma on the sides of my face that I have suffered with for the past two years ( as a direct result of using a hydroquinone without sunscreen) and I have always had dry mildly sensitive skin. My goal is to move towards not wearing makeup to cover up my uneven skin tone each day and as such I want to actively brighten and combat the hyperpigmentation while also hydrating and moisturizing my skin.
I am of east african decent, 25 years old and live in a cooler climate. I would love to hear your advice on how to tackle my hyperpigmentation and hydrate my dry skin. I would also love to know what you would recommend to add to my day and night routine.
Night Routine
hemish All Clean Balm
Oragnic African Black Soap
Pyungkang Yul Essence Toner
Cosrx Triple C Lightning Liquid
or
Sunday Riley Luna Night Oil
Cetaphil Mositurizer
Laniege Lip Mask
and some nights I will do a face mask
Day Routine
I rinse with cold water
sometimes use the organic African black soap
my cetaphil mositurizer
Biore Aqua Rich sunscreen during the day
P.S I am interested in finding an eye cream as well but I did develop milia from use of one in the past and have kept clear ever since.
Thank you in advance and please continue the greatness
