I had the pleasure of chatting with the divine Arabella Preston of Votary, and chat we did. For hours. This is what happens when I sit down with a kindred spirit in all things skincare. When it comes to facial oils, I don’t believe there is anything more naturally pure or nutritious you could put on your skin. Votary believes this too and built a line using mainly oils in their purest form possible. Which is why this brand has resonated with me.
She also took me through her understated but effective, 2-step cleansing and moisturizing ritual which is simplicity at it’s best.
I love learning about and experiencing different cultures of cleansing. Whether it’s Asian, French, English, I embrace it all!

Hey! I discovered your YouTube videos last year and I now follow you on multiple media platforms. 🙂
I’ve never heard of water contact being harmful for skin…of course, unless the water is hard water or if it’s lots of hot water that can be drying. Can you cover this topic?
I wash my face with water every evening and morning. Most mornings I don’t even use a cleanser because I feel like lukewarm water does a good enough job without stripping oils off my face. Have we been wrong to be bathing/cleansing with water for centuries?

Hey Grace! What Arabella is referring to is mainly hot shower water contact which lasts longer than a few splashes to the face. That can be quite stripping. Actually hot water contact is generally quite stripping and harsh. I water rinse all the time to cleanse my face, but usually I use cold water!
Hi,
Love your work and wondering if you actually can reccomend customized products ? I know you are not a dermatologist and you May Say no, but I know that your knowledge of skin care is very scientific and in my opinion you know more than any esthetitions or dermatologists I have seen it met.
Pls let me know.
